Born in New York City and raised in Houston, Texas, Jordan Jaffe can just as easily rock his Lucchese boots at the rodeo as he can place the perfect order for bagels and lox at Zabar's. His passions unrelated to his creative work include vintage clothes, cowboy boots, soccer, and world history.
Jordan might have gone on to major in Asian studies/political science at Rice University, but for a chance encounter with a model scout at the Houston Galleria. However, Jordan's modeling career somewhat fizzled after a month much like his first college romance, so at the suggestion of a therapist Jordan signed up for a theater class. His first theatrical experience was working backstage and loading a dozen toasters on a student production of Sam Shepard's True West. Jordan was hooked (on theater, not toast), and promptly switched his major to Visual and Dramatic Arts and never looked back.
Jordan's full length plays include: Crude, Whirlwind, Chained, and Flow. Whirlwind received a world premiere production at the Wild Project garnering 3 New York Innovative Theater Award nominations including Best Premiere Production (winning for Innovative Design). Crude received a world premiere production at Theater 511 at Ars Nova, starring Nico Tortorella ("Younger") and was featured in NY Mag's Approval Matrix as "Highbrow and Excellent".
A pilot of Jordan's was a finalist in the scripted drama category at Catalyst Fest 2019. In addition to his writing and creative projects, Jordan has worked in production management across film, TV and Theater as a line producer for the Adirondack Theatre Festival, an associate producer with Partial Comfort Productions, and as a producer's assistant on projects with Netflix, Sony/Marvel, and HBO to name a few. Jordan's deep production experience further includes first and second assistant directing on indie features, a stint in theatrical marketing, hanging lights, and asking Brian Cox ("Succession") to wear a mask.
Before moving to New York, Jordan produced plays as the Artistic Director of Black Lab Theatre in Houston, Texas. Jordan's theater directing credits with Black Lab in Texas include Joshua Harmon's Bad Jews, Kim Rosenstock's Tigers Be Still (Houston Press Award 2014-15 nominee Best Director), Paul Downs Colaizzo's Really Really, Leslye Headland's Assistance and Jeff Talbott's The Submission. Jordan's further producing credits include David Henry Hwang's Chinglish, Beau Willimon's Farragut North, Amy Herzog's 4000 Miles, Theresa Rebeck's Our House, and Peter Sinn Nachtrieb's boom. The latter four he also starred in.
Jordan is a proud graduate of Rice University with a BA in Visual and Dramatic Arts, and trained as an actor at the Atlantic Acting School in New York. In 2013 Jordan was named to the Houston Press' Top 100 Creatives list of "movers and shakers".
